The Challenge

The design challenge suggested by the website’s structure is organising a broad range of county information around different visitor needs. Residents may be looking for community support or recreation programmes, while businesses need a separate route to resources. The experience needs to connect people with relevant information without requiring them to understand the county’s departmental structure first.

  • Organise public services into understandable categories.

  • Distinguish community resources from business information.

  • Keep department contacts and support options easy to locate.

  • Balance practical tasks with opportunities to explore the county.

The Solution

The website groups its navigation into “Find Programs and Resources,” “Do Business Here,” “Government,” and “Discover Our Community.” Search and an alphabetical office directory provide additional ways to locate information. A dedicated Services Locator introduces pathways to support for individuals and families, while separate news and events sections organise community updates. Together, these features offer different starting points for visitors seeking assistance, department information, or local activities.

The Result

A public-information website that brings community resources, departmental information, and local updates into one place. Visitors can explore support services, browse the office directory, or discover county events. The structure provides separate routes for practical enquiries and community discovery, rather than directing every visitor through the same sequence of pages.

  • A dedicated Services Locator for individuals and families seeking support.

  • An alphabetical office directory for finding county departments.

  • Separate news and events sections for community information.
